Welcome to Say it in Tagalog!

Say it in Tagalog (SiiT) is a cultural+creative platform that helps people (re)connect with the Tagalog language and Filipino culture and heritage — one meaningful word at a time — through weekly newsletters, creative workshops, and one-on-one SiiT Sessions with native speakers, all rooted in Filipino art and creativity.

Kumusta? Ako si Regina.

I’m a first-generation Filipino immigrant with a background in arts, storytelling, and community-centered work. I’m also the creator of Say it in Tagalog (SiiT), a cultural/creative platform that helps Filipino and Filipino-American families (re)connect with our language, culture, and identity — one meaningful Tagalog word at a time — through a weekly newsletter, one-on-one SiiT sessions, and creative workshops.

For many of us in the diaspora, Tagalog lives in pieces —

In the words our parents said.
The songs we heard growing up.
The food passed around at family gatherings.
The jokes that only make sense in Taglish.
And the tender phrases we wish we knew how to say back.

But for those raised between cultures, their relationship with the language can feel especially layered.

Some learned to understand Tagalog without ever feeling confident speaking it.
Others grew up in environments where assimilation, survival, or simply fitting in took priority.
Many quietly wonder whether they are “Filipino enough.”

Over time, (re)connecting with the language can also become tied to pressure, shame, or the fear of getting things wrong.

I want this space to feel different.

Through my work in creative spaces, outreach, and Filipino-American cultural community work, I’ve seen how powerful language can be — not just for communication, but as a bridge to belonging, memory, identity, and home.

I created Say it in Tagalog to offer a gentler approach to (re)connecting with our language and culture. One rooted in conversation, creativity, curiosity, and emotional connection.

More importantly, I want this space to remind people that belonging can exist even before fluency.

Say it in Tagalog is my love letter to our language and to the generations finding their way back to it.

My hope is that people leave this space feeling more connected to themselves, their roots, and the generations before them — whether they are fluent speakers or simply learning it, one meaningful word at a time.
